 | | Automatic deburring and correction of tolerance deviations to specification |
The many-sided requirements of the customer, particularly the compatibility sought between the economic and benefits-oriented demands, were the subject of thorough questioning and analysis by INSYS. This work resulted in feasibility studies, which were interpreted, evaluated, and subsequently successfully implemented, all in the closest cooperation with the customer.
An important criterion was the extremely short conversion time permitted before resuming production. By means of a many-layered information exchange, close support and continual staff training (those responsible for the installation, the maintenance staff and the 3-shift operating personnel), it was possible to fulfill the task despite the testing overall requirements.
In the process, INSYS developed a new deburring tool for attachment to the robot arm, which is tailored to the specific problem posed and which machines the required workpiece contours in the machine’s non-productive time. Furthermore, with the same robot it was possible to implement the automatic supply and out-flow of the workpieces.
The most outstanding aspect of the tool itself, which automatically checks for any possible break and monitors the settings, is its ability to detect tricky tolerance deviations and shrinkage problems in the plastic parts and to correct them exactly to specification. Of particular difficulty was the adaptation of the existing locating gauges, which did not originally meet the demands of the new deburring process, as well as the programming of new machining operations in accordance with the customer’s internal standards. |
