KUKA at the European Robotics Forum 2019

The European Robotics Forum (ERF) is the most influential robotics network event in Europe. From 20 to 22 March 2019, KUKA is showing a new project with the sensitive KUKA LBR iiwa in Bucharest.

Robots for humans – AI in the real world

The ERF has developed into a permanent institution in the European robotics community. For the tenth time now, the ERF is taking place. Under the motto "Robots for humans - AI in the real world" about 1000 experts from industry, science and politics from all over Europe will meet in Bucharest. The program includes more than 50 workshops on robotics and artificial intelligence with topics such as:

  • Innovative robots for the automotive industry
  • Robots in agriculture
  • Robotics and Big Data
  • Ethics in the field of robotics
  • Cybersecurity etc.

At the accompanying exhibition, companies, universities and institutes will have the opportunity to give an insight into current research and projects and to exchange ideas within the robotics network.

The game with the robot

KUKA is presenting an application with the sensitive lightweight robot LBR iiwa. The human navigates the robot manually. The application shows how closely humans and robots can work together. Thanks to the sensitive properties of the LBR iiwa, there is no need for a protective fence and direct collaboration between humans and robots is possible.

In day-to-day production, people can be relieved of monotonous, repetitive and ergonomically demanding tasks and devote themselves to more complex tasks. The application clearly demonstrates how production will change in the future and how robotics supports people.

With the help of collaborating robots, we can meet current societal challenges, such as the demographic change.

About the ERF

The ERF is organised by euRobotics, an international non-profit association based in Brussels, for all members in European robotics. The aim is to make robotics useful for the European economy and society. KUKA plays a leading role here.
The ERF has its origins in a purely academic event in 2010.
It has evolved into one of the most influential European platforms with representatives from research, industry and politics.
