Bin picking

This involves automatically recognizing objects in a container, grasping them and taking them out. The challenge here is the usually chaotic arrangement of the objects. To meet it, KUKA offers a complete solution according to customer requirements.

Bin picking

The classic tasks of industrial robots include loading components or transferring them from one place to another. Increasing demands and complexity in the manufacturing industry require industrial robots to be able to detect and identify parts as quickly as possible, in addition to simple loading and unloading. This is where bin picking comes into play. Bin picking comprises three steps in which the randomly arranged objects are recognized, picked up and placed in a new position.

The bin picking system can be easily reprogrammed for use on another machine tool.

Pick the right solution with us for the success of your company

Complete, vendor-independent solutions from a single source

From the intelligent camera from Roboception to the 3D sensor from MAFU Automation: we have a range of modular solutions to maximize flexibility, profitability and employee relief at your company by means of bin picking. To achieve this, we equip them with the necessary components to ensure a smooth, effective transition so that you can capitalize on these benefits.

Bin picking with KUKA offers numerous advantages:

End-to-end solution according to customer requirements

We take care of the complete configuration including feasibility studies and implement the specific solutions for system integrators and customers.

Standardized bin picking function packages

Thanks to the CAD model and 3D/2D vision systems, we offer a low-cost solution with predefined components for parts of different sizes.

Efficiency

We shorten cycle times thanks to artificial intelligence in object recognition, parallel path planning and collision-free motion of the robot arm.

High flexibility

By integrating cameras from customer-specific vendors (e.g. Roboception, Keyence, ISRA Vision, MECH MIND, ...), customers remain extremely flexible. It is also possible for parts to be picked up from conveyors.

Simple handling

Thanks to predefined components directly on the smartPAD, for example, integration and configuration are easy even for beginners with basic knowledge of robotics.

Proven quality

With our know-how relating to Industrie 4.0 and global customer service, we support you in your automation projects and help with further information.

Perfect interaction between industrial robot, software and camera technology

Automated bin picking frequently finds application in industries where a lot of bulk material is handled. Since the products are loose or unsorted in the container, a 3D vision system is used in combination with an industrial robot for handling. This enables the handling of bulk materials of any kind to be automated. The combination of vision system and industrial robot brings many advantages. Our goal is to maximize them.

Diverse robots for handling any application

KUKA offers a wide range of industrial robots with different payload capacities and reaches to suit your individual requirements and areas of application.
