KUKA Innovation Award 2019

The topic of the KUKA Innovation Award 2019 has been set: It's all about "Healthy Living".

This term stands for a clear user need in a wide range of areas – from the medical application domain to rehabilitation and onto agri-food and the domestic sphere.

The participants are asked to create an innovative robot application in this field using KUKA hardware.

The selected finalists will get the chance to use a free of charge KUKA lightweight robot and 3D vision system from Roboception throughout the entire competition.

In addition, they will receive free training for the hardware as well as coaching by KUKA experts.

Innovation Award teams will work on their concepts with the KUKA robot LBR iiwa.

The highlight of the competition is the final presentation at the biggest industry fair in Germany, the Hannover Messe 2019. Here, finalist will present their solutions to the public, an expert audience, the media and of course the jury, to determine the winner of 20.000 euro prize money.

How to apply?

Applications must be submitted by 08 June 2018. The motivation for the suggested solution, details of its implementation and a proof of concept, optimally in the form of a prototypical realization, must be included. The applications are reviewed and the best teams are invited to a short pitch. Here, applicants have the opportunity to present their solutions to an international jury from research and industry in an online meeting. Afterward this session, the jury will choose the finalists of the Innovation Award.

About the KUKA Innovation Award

As the world's leading company in robot-based automation, KUKA has been working closely with scientists and R&D partners worldwide on various scientific and technical topics for many years. To strengthen this cooperation, the KUKA Innovation Award was launched in 2014 by chairman Dr. Bernd Liepert, Chief Innovation Officer of KUKA.

The competition aims to accelerate the overall pace of innovation in the field of robot-based automation and to strengthen technology transfer from research to industry. It addresses developers, graduates and research teams of companies or universities.
