KUKA success story: Service Delivery Leader, Rob Clarke

I started a general warehouse job at ASDA’s Integrated Distribution Centre in Lutterworth around 13 years ago. Four years in, I’d become a team leader, thanks to a lot of picking experience!

The ASDA logistics team transferred to Swisslog in 2013. Although it meant we now worked for a new company, I was on the same site I had been on for years, with the same people around me, so it was a seamless transition.

Swisslog really invested in the team. I’d like to think they saw our potential and provided us with training for new software, health and safety, and management courses. One of the most memorable was a nine-module training course on innovation and self-reflection – not something you’d expect!
Aside from training, I’ve learnt a huge amount from colleagues, particularly those with superb technical abilities. 

Having no engineering qualifications or experience, I was prepared for the challenge of working in a highly specialised industry, but everyone shared their knowledge with me and in 2015, I was made Service Delivery Leader.

I’m now involved in training, customer service, conformance and accident investigations. It’s a challenging role, but it’s rewarding, especially since I’m known on site as ‘the man who will always help’!
