  • define requirements, create specification for product design and support development efforts,
  • collaborate with other departments and 3rd party suppliers,
  • provide support to resolve quality issues,
  • hardware-related software development in the field of real-time systems and Linux for operating devices of KUKA robot controllers (BSP development),
  • specification of implementation concepts for new requirements on existing software, as well as for new operating devices to be developed in close coordination with HW development as well as the device manufacturer and control-software development department,
  • implementation, support and maintenance of the operating device software.

Application Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent,
  • proven track record (3 years) in the area of expertise,
  • English language (German is a plus),
  • in-depth knowledge of software development with C,
  • experience in the development of real-time systems in the embedded area and handling the development tools in Linux,
  • experience with shell scripts,
  • experience with device trees under Linux,
  • good knowledge of the Linux driver model,
  • good knowledge of using Yocto (configuration, build),
  • electrotechnical basics, reading circuit diagrams,
  • embedded I/O (I2C, SPI, UART),
  • OS-JTAG debugging, gdbserver, gdb,
  • knowledge of different build systems, autoconf / automake, kBuild, cmake and Makefiles,
  • knowledge of docker for continuous integration development.


  • knowledge of development principles in Qt and its configuration and connection to a Linux system,
  • C++ experience,
  • configuration and adaptation to the hardware of u-boot and linux kernel,
  • good knowledge of the Linux graphics stack (kms, libdrm, mesa3d) and its connection to Qt,
  • knowledge of build principles for packaging libraries (pbuilder).
