Core handling: the technology

Whenever complex castings with cavities and undercuts need to be produced, cores made of sand or salt come into play. In some cases, more than 30 different cores are required in order to manufacture modern parts such as cylinder crankcases, cylinder heads, hydraulic valves or turbine blades.
