We are looking forward to welcome you in person again this year at MEDICA 2021. From November 15-18, KUKA will be presenting innovative ideas for robot-based applications in medicine. Visit us in Hall 10 at our booth A22 and talk to our experts on site.

How can we support doctors and improve patient care?

KUKA is addressing this question and presenting applications with robots for the use in medical technology at MEDICA, the world's largest medical technology fair. Thanks to its sensitive sensor technology, the collaborative LBR Med is perfectly suited for various tasks in the medical field. KUKA is demonstrating some of its possible applications with the help of a medical feature cell, for example with an ultrasound-demo and a spine application. At the fair, an ultrasound probe attached to the flange is guided over the body. The robot records the path and can then repeat the learned path independently and with constant pressure. The robot can also take a change in the surface into account and continue to follow the path with the appropriate adjustment.

guidoo - Robot-based assistance system for the OR

Another highlight at MEDICA will be presented by our long-time KUKA partner BEC with guidoo - a robot-assisted surgical assistance system. The system is based on the LBR Med and enables safe and precise tissue removal during percutaneous interventions, i.e. the insertion of needles under the skin. This relieves doctors and minimises collateral tissue damage.

Simple programming of medical robot applications based on KUKA Sunrise.OS Med

Complex medical applications for the LBR Med can be programmed more easily and quickly on the basis of the new operating system KUKA Sunrise.OS Med 2.6. The object-oriented programming using Java not only provides access to high-end robotics, but also fast commissioning. Additional safety options and an intuitive program editor round off the package.

The new KR QUANTEC HC for even more safety

The KR QUANTEC HC was developed on the basis of the KR 300 R2700 from the KR QUANTEC series. With its high payload of up to 300 kg and a reach of up to 2,700 mm, it is ideally suited for use in a wide range of industries. Additional brakes, as well as the counterbalance system and the person rescue system provide even more safety. If the pressure drops during an application, the system detects this and the KR QUANTEC HC is stopped immediately. In addition, opening the brakes also allows the robot to be moved manually, which is helpful in the event of a power failure, for example.
