KUKA LBR grippers are intelligent and sensitive robot end effectors for the LBR iiwa. In our gripper portfolio you will find the right end effector for any gripping task – whether sensitive, pneumatic or pneumatic with 3D printing process.

Advantages of the LBR grippers

Our LBR gripper portfolio sets you up ideally for Industrie 4.0. Their special design makes our grippers extremely flexible, precise and safe.

  • Functions enabling human-robot collaboration
    There is no hazard whatever to the human operator due to the edge-free and rounded design. It is additionally possible for the gripping force to be limited to a maximum of 140 newtons.
  • Efficient and light
    All grippers are characterized by a compact design and low weight – making for excellent performance in terms of energy efficiency as well.

The sensitive LBR gripper R800

The sensitive LBR gripper R800 from KUKA is the first gripper to facilitate use in HRC applications on account of its form and special jaw covers. Both the operator and the workpiece are optimally protected: injuries caused by the housing are precluded on account of the edge-free and rounded design.

You can additionally control the gripping force sensitively and limit it mechanically by means of safety jaws to values that will not cause injury. This causes the gripper fingers to be automatically uncoupled when a defined force is exceeded. In addition, the drive train of the gripper is blocked. The function is reversible: once you have activated the safety function and manually recoupled the gripper fingers, you can use the gripper again immediately.

The fully integrated controller provides absolute flexibility in the operating mode – the position, speed and gripping force can be freely selected. Various electric media flanges are supported.

Pneumatic LBR grippers

The pneumatic LBR grippers from KUKA turn the LBR iiwa into the extended arm of the human operator. At the same time, the human is protected at the shared workplace. Three variants with a variable stroke and different gripping force and function are available:

Pneumatic LBR gripper: two-jaw long-stroke parallel gripper

  • Gripping force is limited to 140 newtons by pressure reduction
  • Stroke per jaw: 40 millimeters
  • Gripper function: internal and external
  • Closing time for total stroke: 163 milliseconds
  • Weight: 440 grams

Pneumatic LBR grippers: two-jaw short-stroke parallel gripper

  • Gripping force of both jaws combined: max. 1,400 newtons
  • Gripper function: internal and external

  • Gripping force safeguard: opening and closing
  • Weight: 160 grams

Pneumatic LBR grippers: three-jaw centric gripper 

The three-point gripping function enables the centric gripping of round workpieces.

Additively manufactured pneumatic LBR grippers

Our additively manufactured pneumatic LBR grippers are matched exactly to your needs: the jaws are perfectly tailored to the component and the manufacturing task by means of 3D printing. The integrated ball joint and the universally deployable flange adapter offer you additional flexibility. The 3D-printed LBR grippers are available in two variants:

Pneumatic LBR grippers: two-jaw parallel gripper

The 3D-printed pneumatic two-jaw parallel gripper (RRMG3) is suitable for components up to a maximum of 500 grams

  • Gripping force of both jaws: max. 120 newtons
  • Gripper function: internal and external
  • Stroke per jaw: approx. 2 millimeters
  • Closing time for total stroke: 20 milliseconds
  • Weight: approx. 500 grams

Pneumatic LBR grippers: expansion gripper

The 3D-printed pneumatic expansion gripper (RRMGI) is suitable for internal gripping of round components such as tubes or rings:
