The Formula E races of the season 2019/20

A total of 10 races are on the calendar in the 2019/2020 season. These events take place in 8 cities around the world.

Diriyah

The second race of the season on the outskirts of Saudi Arabia’s capital Riyadh was marked by rough duels, numerous overtaking manoeuvres and two safety car periods that repeatedly packed up the field. In all of the duels, Lucas di Grassi, who had started the race from third place on the grid, kept a cool head and claimed second place after 45 minutes of racing. For the 35-year-old Brazilian, it marked his 31st podium finish in Formula E, including 10 victories.

Second place for di Grassi

Santiago de Chile

Formula E started 2020 with a spectacular race in Santiago de Chile. Lucas di Grassi thrilled the South American fans with a forward charge from 22nd place on the grid to seventh place. With his comeback drive, he underlined that the Audi e-tron FE06 is one of the fastest cars on the grid. Teammate Daniel Abt had to cope with traffic in qualifying. The German worked his way forward from 13th on the grid to eighth in the race. A 30-second time penalty subsequently imposed on him for causing a collision dropped him back to 14th.

Mexico City

The E-Prix in Mexico City offered a thrilling race. Lucas di Grassi fought his way up to 6th from 15th on the grid in another spectacular Formula E race in front of an impressive crowd. This allowed the Brazilian to defend his 5th position in the Drivers’ standings of the all-electric racing series. “This was a tough race,” said di Grassi. “Although we scored good points, I’m not 100 percent happy. We did not have the pace in the race to move up further. We have to work hard to get stronger in qualifying, but also in the race.”

Marrakesh

Lucas di Grassi collected valuable points in the fifth round of the Formula E season. With a hard-fought 7th place in Marrakesh (Morocco), the Brazilian maintained 5th place in the drivers’ championship of the electric racing series.
As the third-fastest driver of the first qualifying group, di Grassi had to settle for 13th on the grid, the best driver of an Audi e-tron FE06. In the race, the 2016/2017 Formula E Champion once again showed strong fighting spirit. With spectacular overtaking maneuvers, the Audi driver made up a total of seven places.
