FanBoost

How the FanBoost works, what it does and how you can take part.

The FanBoost in Formula E is unparalleled in motor sport. It allows spectators and fans to play an active role in the outcome of the race by enabling them to vote for their favorite driver and award them with extra power for the race.

The five drivers with the most votes receive 100 kJ of additional energy each. This additional energy can be used in the second half of the race in a 5-second window. During this window, the power of the racing car increases briefly from 200 kW (272 hp) to 250 kW (340 hp).

Voting begins six days prior to an E-Prix on a Monday at 5:30 p.m. local time and closes 15 minutes after the race has begun. Once the voting window has elapsed, Formula E announces the results during the live broadcast of the race.

How does voting take place?

You can vote on the official Formula E FanBoost website and by using a hashtag on the short message service Twitter:

#FANBOOST #DanielAbt

#FANBOOST #LucasdiGrassi

Formula E is the only racing format that allows fans to influence the outcome of the race.
