Vice title for Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler

Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler kept Formula E exciting until the last lap. The team secured the runner-up spot in the electric racing series at the finale in New York.

Congratulations on the runner-up title and thanks for a great season!

On the final weekend, Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi almost managed to win the team classification in the final sprint like last year: They caught up 24 points in the two races in New York on DS Techeetah. In the end, only 19 points were missing to successfully defend the title. Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler has thus been among the top three in the overall standings every season so far.

The same goes for Lucas di Grassi, who, after winning the 2016/2017 season championship and two runners-up titles, took third place for the second time in the drivers' standings in the electric racing series. In the final race the Brazilian fought his way up from eleventh on the grid to seventh before being pushed into the wall by Jaguar driver Mitch Evans just before the finish and having to retire. "Fortunately, the accident didn't change the result in the championship," said the two-time winner of the season.

I'm proud to be in the top three for the fifth year in a row.

Daniel Abt made it into the Super Pole of the fastest six on both qualifying days in New York and scored the extra point for the fastest lap both times.

Shortly before the finale Audi also confirmed the driver pairing for the coming season: The German-Brazilian duo Daniel Abt and Lucas di Grassi will also compete together in season 6. It is the only pairing that has survived since the founding of the 2014 Series and with 40 podium finishes and 1027 points in 56 joint races also the most successful.

A season full of suspense, drama and variety ends. In 13 races on five continents there were nine different winners from eight different teams. Ten different pilots stood on the pole position. Before the last race in New York, four drivers and three teams still had the chance to win the title.

"The whole team fought to the end and gave everything," said team boss Allan McNish. "I am proud of the team that has put so much hard work, energy and determination into this season. We take this determination with us in season six. We are already looking forward to the first race in November."

We can only go along with that: Thank you for a great season, we are looking forward to supporting the team in the coming season!
