EIT Manufacturing

Learn how to strengthen Europe's innovation capacity in manufacturing - this is what the EIT Manufacturing deals with.

EIT Manufacturing is one of currently nine so-called Innovation Communities, which were created to find solutions to specific global challenges, including climate, health and energy. EIT Innovation Communities develop innovative products and services, establish new companies and train a new generation of entrepreneurs. EIT Manufacturing focuses on manufacturing challenges. KUKA is a member of this strong innovation community, which has more than 50 partners from 17 European countries. Its goal is to create unique added value for European products, processes and services and to stimulate globally competitive and sustainable manufacturing.

To this end, nine programs have been set up in the areas of training, innovation and business development, which focus on four strategic areas that KUKA can benefit from:

  • Industrial robots that work and interact with humans to both increase manufacturing performance and contribute to the well-being of workers,
  • additive manufacturing, combining multiple materials for customized products and services,
  • digitization of zero-defect production to increase the efficiency of industrial processes,
  • digital platforms and integrators as the key to European manufacturing innovation

KUKA will develop technologies for future manufacturing tasks within the project and framework of various innovation partnerships in the coming years. In particular, EIT Manufacturing will promote the transition from novel technologies to advanced product development. KUKA will also benefit from a growing network of European partners in the manufacturing environment.

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT ) is an EU institution created by the European Union in 2008 to strengthen Europe's innovative capacity. It is an integral part of Horizon 2020, the EU's framework program for research and innovation.
