Engineering of production processes
Under the term of continuous engineering of production processes one understands the ability to change a production process at any time, i.e. to efficiently implement unplanned changes regarding the manufactured product, the process or the production resources at any time. The downtimes of a plant are optimized, so that ideally a continuous production with batch size 1 is possible.
The project builds on the basic architectures and first implementations for an operating system for production plants from the successful predecessor project BaSys 4.0. Within the framework of BaSys 4.2, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), further Industry 4.0 infrastructure elements are now to be implemented based on the concepts and standards of the Industry 4.0 platform. The research work focuses on the three topics "middleware", "capabilities" and "virtualization".
