KUKA Nordic creates new role with focus on AMRs – and launches yet another robot platform

Advanced AMRs have been a success for KUKA, and in December the new KMP 250P model was released. In connection with this, KUKA Nordic is investing further resources in the area: Micael Amandusson, former channel manager, has been appointed to a new position as business development manager with a focus on AMRs.

17 December 2025

Improves logistics and production flows

He started in his new role on 1 November. But AMRs are nothing new to Micael Amandusson. – It's something I've already worked with extensively, and I have a deep understanding of the benefits and competitive advantages they can create, he says. As Business Development Manager for the Nordic and Baltic regions, he now has direct contact with customers and provides advice and support on how AMRs can improve logistics and production flows.

Increased profitability with AMRs

The platforms in KUKA's catalogue – with lifting capacities of up to 3,000 kilo-grams – are available in versions where the batteries charge inductively during loading and unloading, providing an operating time of nearly 24 hours per day. – AMRs are a technology that greatly contributes to increased flexibility and profitability. This insight is now beginning to take hold in the market, and the fact that AMRs can be introduced gradually, at low cost and with very little disruptive impact, is causing demand to explode. – AMRs are also one of the cornerstones of what are known as dark factories, factories where robots work KUKA Nordic creates new role with focus on AMRs – and launches yet another robot platform independently with minimal human interaction in the processes.

We are seeing society gaining greater opportunities to eliminate monotonous and harmful tasks and allow people to focus on value-creating processes instead of monotonous and repetitive tasks, says Micael Amandusson. – This is a type of product that is growing in importance for our customers and where we are at the forefront. It is definitely an area where there will be more news in the future.

360° surveillance

This autumn, a brand new AMR has been added to KUKA's range. It is the KMP 250P. The platform – with a lifting capacity of 250 kilograms – navigates using two diagonally mounted laser scanners that work together with 3D cameras. This allows it to maintain a 360-degree view and easily avoid obstacles on its way from point A to point B. Thanks to differential drive, it can turn more or less around its own axis, providing maximum flexibility in confined spaces. The KMP 250P meets the highest safety standards and is available in a cleanroom version. It is also available in an ESD version for environments that are sensitive to static electricity. – In early 2026, you will also be able to get them with a special towing function, which will allow them to connect to tow trucks with loads of up to 300 kilograms, says Micael Amandusson.
