KUKA.ForceTorqueControl

The technology package makes the use of KUKA industrial robot systems in sensitive robot applications possible by integrating a force/torque sensor.

Sensitivity through KUKA.ForceTorqueControl

KUKA.ForceTorqueControl enables industrial robots to react to forces and torques acting on the robot tool in a sensitive manner. Robots typically move along programmed paths without consideration of the forces and torques acting on the tool or workpiece. In many cases, however, these process forces have a decisive influence on the quality and process reliability of an application (e.g. assembly, polishing, grinding, bending). By using KUKA.ForceTorqueControl, the process forces and torques involved in a robot motion can be programmed and adhered to.

Key advantages of KUKA.ForceTorqueControl:

Complex manufacturing processes can be automated due to the level of sensitivity gained. This increases the quality and process reliability. Process forces are monitored and strictly adhered to.

Fast, robot-based assembly of processor and memory modules on a circuit board.

Areas of application for the software

  • Joining of components, for example, in the electronics industry

  • Alignment of components with high tolerances (e.g. castings)

  • Distortion-free loading of machine tools

  • Compliance with defined process forces during friction stir welding

  • Deburring of components

  • Surface polishing

  • Monitoring of process forces, e.g. during milling
