KUKA showcases die casting expertise at Euroguss 2018

The international die casting industry will come together for the 12th time at Euroguss – the largest specialist trade fair for die casting processes in Europe. Visit us in Nuremberg from 16 to 18 January 2018 at booth 612 in trade fair hall 7A – and profit from our foundry expertise.

Fast trimming presses of the latest generation

With the intuitive touch control of the DIALOG IV controller generation, tool-specific programs can be quickly created, modified, saved and reproduced. Furthermore, the machine can be easily operated thanks to robust hardware buttons and the ideal arrangement of all relevant control units in the media cabinet. In addition to many other advantages, the fast trimming press with servo-hydraulics reduces energy requirements by up to 60 percent. A new safety fence concept for manual operation of the press will also be exhibited.

Perfect combination with automated die casting

At the trade fair, there will be a live demonstration of a die casting cell in which a spraying robot (KR 30-4 KS F) and an unloading robot (KR 60-3 F) work together. The highlight of the system is the VectorMove application, in which motion data can be shifted simply in Cartesian space by means of vectors. This enables the unloading robot to synchronously track the ejection mechanism while taking hold of the casting.
Naturally, the topic of Industrie 4.0 is also addressed in detail: Discover the possibilities of using data relationships and Big Data analyses to implement preventive measures or to produce digital “birth certificates” for each casting. Trade fair highlight: new, highly efficient drive for sliding/tilting table presses

KUKA is presenting a new drive concept for sliding/tilting table presses directly at the trade fair. Here, the high-efficiency electric drive enables even shorter cycle times and secures decisive competitive advantages. The concept can also be used for hydraulic presses, and existing sliding/tilting table presses from KUKA can be quickly and easily converted.

Casting process at KSM Castings

KUKA presents “autonomous” immersion cooling basins

The “autonomous” KUKA immersion cooling basin can also be seen at the trade fair. With this basin, the water-to-water heat exchangers are directly connected to the cooling circuit of the foundry and no electrical connections are required. Filters and circulation pumps are also no longer necessary as the cooling water in the thermal plates does not come into contact with the component. Besides many other advantages – such as simpler cleaning and the automatic refilling of the basin – a convincing aspect is the fact that neither pumps nor actuators are needed. As a result, the immersion cooling basin is ready for immediate use.

The immersion cooling basins are available in four standardized sizes.

With KUKA, customers get everything from a single source – from robots and foundry products to systems engineering. That’s why robots can even be found behind the KUKA bar at Euroguss. Here, the LBR iiwa robot colleague automatically ensures the required supply of wheat beer. From rinsing the glasses to opening the bottle and even pouring a perfect head, the LBR iiwa performs all of the work steps independently. Thanks to intelligent safety technologies and its sensitive properties – and despite its strength – the lightweight robot can work together with humans without a safety fence and hand guests a perfectly poured wheat beer.
