Blechexpo 2017: KUKA Industries demonstrates its expertise in spot welding and laser welding

Blechexpo / Schweisstec in Stuttgart is the international trade fair for sheet metal working and joining technology. KUKA Industries is presenting its welding industry portfolio from 7th to 10th of November. Using a simulated manufacturing process, we demonstrate our welding expertise in the intelligent production of tomorrow – from spot welding to arc welding and on to friction stir welding. Visit us in Hall 6 at Booth 6313.

Process screening: a complete overview of the data 

Those who maintain a consistent overview of data can reduce downtimes, detect improvement potential, increase product quality and manufacture more efficiently. Visitors to the KUKA booth at Blechexpo get a look at process screening in the form of a networked welding system.
Thanks to the KUKA parameter control and documentation system PCD 507, the production-relevant data is collected and consolidated in near-real time. The data in the KUKA SmartProduction cloud-based software platform are available for further analysis. A further addition is process screening – a software application for the visualization and analysis of the manufacturing and handling processes.

If required, the real process video with the augmented reality function also provides users – including those at remote locations – with all the information about the system, thus supporting troubleshooting.

Production 4.0 at Blechexpo 2017

At Blechexpo 2017, interested trade fair visitors can experience a simulated manufacturing scenario. A battery box for electric vehicles is machined via the spot welding process in the KUKA flexibleCELL – which is equipped with the new KP3-V2H S speed positioner. The component is then transported to the next robot cell by means of the linear gantry. Here, the easy automation of arc welding technology with the ready2_arc and ready2_grip application packages is demonstrated.

Friction stir welding for the battery production of tomorrow

In robot-based friction stir welding, KUKA offers a cost-effective, fast and weight-saving alternative to conventional joining processes. This innovative technology allows for the top-quality joining of a wide array of aluminum alloys. Friction stir welding thus presents an alternative to conventional joining processes. Whatever the requirement or application, KUKA offers different solutions for friction stir welding – from linear axis systems to robot systems.
