Focus on artificial intelligence and sustainability: KUKA and Swisslog support UN initiative “AI for Good”

How can artificial intelligence help to advance the UN's sustainability goals? This question will be addressed by renowned experts from business, research, and civil society at the AI for Good Global Summit from 28 to 31 May in Geneva.

May 22, 2024

The conference was initiated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a UN specialized agency for information and communication technology. Around 2,500 guests, AI innovators, start-ups, and renowned speakers as well as a large online community from 183 countries will present their ideas, discuss them in workshops and network in Geneva. As a global company with a focus on new technologies relating to robotics, automation and digitalization, KUKA and KUKA's Swiss logistics expert Swisslog are sponsoring the conference. .

We cannot solve our current problems and challenges with what we have so far. We need new technologies, ideas and concepts. Technological innovations, such as those resulting from the combination of AI and robotics, play an important role in achieving the sustainability goals of the United Nations.

Dr. Ulrike Tagscherer, KUKA Chief Innovation Officer and Innovation Factory jury member at the AI For Good Global Summit

17 goals for sustainability: the UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, the United Nations adopted 17 goals for sustainable development. The Sustainable Development Goals cover topics such as combating poverty and hunger, improving health and education, clean and affordable energy, environmental protection, and the fight against climate change. The SDGs are the centerpiece of the “Agenda 2030”, a common concept for peace and prosperity and a call to all countries. The development of the SDGs is regularly monitored by the UN.
