A KUKA robot is part of the "Engineering Season"

The Madejski Garden is a splendid magnet for visitors to the venerable Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In a cooperative project between the museum, the University of Stuttgart and KUKA, a KR120 R2500 robot will span a novel lightweight roof over the courtyard of the garden from May 2016 onwards.

A robot from the KR QUANTEC series gives a live demonstration of creating a lightweight construction

The start is scheduled for May 2016. That is when the KUKA KR120 R2500 robot from the QUANTEC series will commence its work in the John Madejski Garden at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The University of Stuttgart and KUKA have already been preparing for the joint project since October 2015. The university has the task of spanning an innovative and transparent roof construction of carbon and glass fibers over the courtyard. The particular highlight: visitors to the museum will have the opportunity to witness live how the robot creates the innovative lightweight construction.

Victoria and Albert Museum proclaims “Engineering Season”

The background to the project is this year’s “Engineering Season” series of exhibitions at the V&A, the world’s leading museum of art and design. The objective is to enable visitors to experience the interaction between design, architecture and engineering. The production process is being demonstrated in the John Madejski Garden from May to October 2016; around two million visitors are expected.
