Mobile platforms with smart control software: automotive order for KUKA
KUKA has received an order for 22 KMP 1500s from an automotive customer. The omnidirectional mobile platforms autonomously and flexibly ensure material supply in production. The KMP 1500s are controlled by innovative KUKA software.

The KMP 1500s supply components to the body-in-white production line. For this purpose, there are containers mounted on the platforms. The intelligent “KUKA SmartProduction_control” software coordinates the entire KMP fleet during this process. The software algorithms process the data continuously and generate a sequence optimally adapted to the current situation. The position and movements of the platforms here can be monitored and tracked at any time. The KUKA master controller can be used to specially control intelligent, complex production environments.
This is the first order in the area of autonomous platforms from this customer. To win it, KUKA was successful in beating out the existing suppliers. The order is in the single-digit million euro range.

KUKA’s intelligent, autonomous vehicles can supply materials to robots and machines, perfectly timing the production process. With the KMP 1500, it is possible to make industrial production even more flexible. The autonomously controlled platform integrates seamlessly into the production process while also independently and autonomously transporting the products through all process steps.
