KUKA at trade fair "Handwerk" in Wels, Upper Austria

A KUKA robot mills portraits of visitors at the trade fair "Handwerk" in Wels.

6 April 2017

From March 15th – 18th 2017 the trade fair “Handwerk” took place in Wels, Upper Austria. This year´s highlight was the so-called “Forum Innovation”, organized by the Furniture & Timber Construction Cluster (MHC) together with Messe Wels.

It was a melting pot for successful entrepreneurs, visionary thinkers and creative heads from the timber construction industry. They presented their innovations and research outcomes – starting with 3D printing to hand-made skateboards. Part of these innovations was a KUKA AGILUS sixx which attracted the visitors by milling their portraits on small plates.

Hier sehen Sie, wie Herr Dr. Christoph Leitl, Präsident der Wirtschaftskammer Österreich, ein gefrästes Portrait von einem KUKA Roboter erhält.

The application was part of the project Robotic Woodcraft, a research project at the University for Applied Arts in Vienna in cooperation with the Association for Robots in Architecture and LUCY.D Design. Dr. Christoph Leitl, president of the Chamber of Commerce Austria, was among the lucky ones who received a robot-made portrait.
