KUKA to deliver an additional 300 industrial robots for the chinese growth market

Augsburg, April 18, 2012 - In March 2012, KUKA was able to secure another blanket order from its strategic systems partner Huaheng for the supply of 300 industrial robots

18 April 2012

The order is valued in the high single-digit million euro range and delivery is scheduled for 2012, the current fiscal year. KUKA has delivered a total of 800 robotic units to this customer over the past four years (see also KUKA press releases dated November 4, 2010 and May 31, 2010).

Huaheng Welding Co. Ltd. is based in Kushan in Jiangsu province and is China's leading systems integrator of automated welding systems for plate steel applications. The company manufactures assembly systems, in particular for construction machinery OEMs such as SANY and XCMG/Xugong. The latter manufacture excavators, cranes and bucket-wheel loaders on these lines. Chinese systems partner Huaheng has become KUKA Robotics' largest single general industry customer worldwide.

"China is now KUKA Robotics' second-largest market, right behind Germany," says Dr. Till Reuter, CEO of KUKA AG. "In 2011, we were able to boost sales in China by 116 percent compared to last year. We continue to expect strong demand from China for robot-based automation going forward, driven by rising incomes and higher quality expectations."
