KUKA at the ERF 2024

KUKA was together with two local partner at this year's European Robotics Forum in sunny Rimini.

ROBOTICS UNITES:

Under the motto "ROBOTICS UNITES: People, Countries, Disciplines" the most influential meeting of the European robotics community, the European Robotics Forum (ERF), took place in March 2024 in Rimini, Italien. Representatives from academiaindustry, and politics gathered from across Europe to exchange ideason topics during lectures, workshops, and social events.

At the accompanying exhibition, companiesuniversities and institutes had the opportunity to provide an insight into their current research and projects and to exchange ideas in the robotics network.

In addition, renowned awards will be presented at the ERF, including the euRobotics Entrepreneurship Award for the most promising robotics startup, the euRobotics Techtransfer Award for the best result of a cooperation between research and industry, and the euRobotics George Giralt PhD Award for the best European dissertation.

Just A Rather Very Intelligent System“ -The team of the Merlin Laboratory of the Italian Politecnico di Milano presented their a complete plug-and-play method for programming collaborative robotic applications that is fully integrated into the iiQKA ecosystem. This will facilitate their introduction in small and medium-sized enterprises. Together with the integration of artificial intelligence into the new iiQKA ecosystem, the concept enables unskilled operators to instruct the robot in a new task and to generalize in unknown situations, including new tasks and product variants.

Together with a sensitive KUKA lightweight robot LBR Med demonstrated the italien company from Florence Orthokey Italia S.r.l., a new Product from the medical field.  "ROBIN" is the new generation of collaborative robotic solutions for orthopedic surgery.

The Product supports a wide range of orthopedic surgical procedures, that space from robotic Total Knee Implants surgery to navigation of Uni-Knee, Hip Implants, High tibial Osteotomy and Revision Knee Implants. With the ability of real-time tracking of patient and robot position, Robin generates virtual boundaries for a precise guided bone resection and supports soft tissue balance control, improving the surgeon ability to reproduce alignment and

restore normal kinematics. This ensuring the highest level of accuracy and reproducibility and safety.

About ERF

The ERF is organised by euRobotics, an international non-profit association based in Brussels, for all members in European robotics. The aim is to make robotics useful for the European economy and society. KUKA plays a leading role here.
The ERF has its origins in a purely academic event in 2010. It has evolved into one of the most influential European platforms with representatives from research, industry and politics.
