IERA Award presented for the 14th time

The IERA Award is considered one of the most important international awards in robotics and is conferred by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) and the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. It recognizes outstanding achievements by companies and inventors in turning their ideas into world-class products.

The final of this year’s IERA Award took place during the 50th International Symposium on Robotics in Munich. The competitors who made it to the final round presented their innovative solutions in the plenary session to a jury of high-ranking international representatives from industry and the research community.

The KUKA LBR Med convinced the jury thanks to its wide range of potential applications, the safety technologies required for integration into medical products and the great importance of medical therapy, rehabilitation and nursing care in an aging society.

KUKA offers a broad robotics portfolio for the medical industry.

KUKA has enjoyed 18 years of successful collaboration with international partners from the medical technology sector, and, today, is shaping the future in the medical field more than ever with path-breaking technologies and high-tech products.

“Through our technology and our expertise, we are constantly striving to meet the high requirements and demands of the medical sector,” stresses Michael Otto, Vice President of KUKA Medical Robotics. “I am therefore particularly gratified that the commitment of our entire team was rewarded by winning such an internationally recognized award.”

Certified robots for the medical sector

In the future, the KUKA LBR Med lightweight robot will take on an increasing number of assistance tasks in the field of medicine. Thanks to its sensitivity and safety technologies, it is able to safely assist medical specialists. The LBR Med is the world’s first robot that has been certified according to the IECEE CB Scheme. Since the certification procedure is internationally recognized, the complexity of the licensing process for medical products based on the LBR Med is substantially reduced.

We accompany our customers from the initial idea to product development and throughout the entire product life cycle with worldwide service and support. Naturally, the competitive advantages resulting from this are also reflected in the LBR Med.
