KUKA strengthens north america business with major order in plant engineering

Sterling Heights, MI/Augsburg, Germany, August 7, 2013 – KUKA Systems has won a major order in the United States valued at over USD 250 million from one of the world's leading car manufacturer for the first time. KUKA Systems says the project, which is scheduled to run over three years, is of key strategic importance and will further boost the company's market share in North America. Last April, KUKA acquired Utica Companies' systems business, elevating it to the number one ranked automotive industry systems suppliers in the United States.

Contract valued at over USD 250 million over three years

The order is one of the largest KUKA Systems has ever received from a single customer in North America. Under the terms of the contract, the company will supply underbody assembly lines and handle projects at various manufacturing locations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The job makes KUKA one of the customer's key strategic partners.
KUKA's assembly lines will make underbody parts for various types of vehicles. Most of the systems will be fully automated and equipped with innovative KUKA Systems welding solutions.

This order confirms that our strategy to diversify KUKA globally and focus investments on the growing US economy is taking root.
