Augsburg, September 3, 2014  The first ever “Corporate social responsibility drive”, a series of events that aim to foster corporate social responsibility, will be held at KUKA from September 15 to 21.  The drive is an initiative of the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) and events will be hosted for the first time throughout Germany during the week. Under the tagline “We commit”, companies will demonstrate their understanding of what corporate social responsibility means. KUKA will participate with interesting presentations on energy and resource efficiency for machines and systems as well as the work/life balance. The apprentices will be providing active support to social institutions and KUKA staff members will be doing a run for charity in Munich.

Presentations at KUKA College on September 15

Dr. Johann Härtl (Head of R&D, KUKA Systems GmbH) and Peter Klüger (Product manager, KUKA Roboter GmbH) will provide exciting insights into the topic of energy and resource efficiency for products and systems on Monday, September 15 at 6:00 p.m. at KUKA College in Hery Park 3000 in Gersthofen. KUKA strives to continuously improve the energy efficiency of its products and systems in order to cut CO2 emissions and protect the environment. Are you interested in how these goals will be achieved? Then pay us a visit. 
During the second presentation, Kirsten Glassmann, Human Resources Manager KUKA AG, will talk about balancing a career and family. After all, KUKA depends on committed, qualified workers and gives top priority to creating a work environment that fosters the well-being of the staff. Measures to ensure this include improving the balance between career and family as well as occupational health management.

KUKA apprentices give back to the community

The apprentices at KUKA are also providing active support to the drive by working in daycare centers or nursing homes, doing cleaning and minor renovations, and holding reading afternoons and accompanying nursing home residents on walks.

KUKA staff members are participating in the 10th women’s charity run in Munich to combat breast cancer

On October 5, 2014, KUKA employees will be taking part in the Munich women’s charity run to combat breast cancer. For each participant, 10 euros will be donated to the Bayerische Krebsgesellschaft e.V.’s breast cancer hardship fund, which helps women in financial need as a result of their illness.

About VDMA’s “Corporate social responsibility drive”

VDMA has launched its first “Corporate social responsibility drive” under the heading “Do good and talk about it”. Thirty-five companies will participate across Germany. The aim of VDMA’s drive is to boost the social, media and political awareness of German mechanical and plant engineering companies and to create a visible campaign out of the individual activities. The drive will be opened with the main VDMA kickoff event on September 15 in Berlin. The sponsor of the drive is the Federal Minister of Economics and Energy, Sigmar Gabriel.
