KUKA announces major contract for Swisslog from Almarai Food Group in Saudi Arbaia

Buchs/Aarau, 11 November 2015 – The Saudi food manufacturer Almarai has tasked Swisslog with automating its distribution logistics in Al Kharj. The automation projects, with an order volume of around 43 million euro, are to be implemented by the end of 2018.

The Saudi Almarai group is one of the world’s largest milk processing companies and supplies juices, baked goods, poultry and baby food in addition to dairy products. This large-scale project represents a strategic reorientation of Almarai’s logistics and will accelerate the company’s logistics processes.

Warehousing and materials handling systems, software and system operation

The scope of supply includes rack feeders, conveyor systems, overhead conveyors, automatic truck loading systems and automatic order-picking modules. Warehouse management software based on the SAP warehouse management module EWM is being installed to control all goods movements. Dynamic simulation will enable the visualization and optimization of all data, from throughput of goods to system performance. The system operation service ensures smooth warehouse operation.
