KUKA "moiros" concept vehicle wins robotics award

The KUKA “moiros” concept study has won the coveted Robotics Award at HANNOVER MESSE.

10 kwietnia 2013

The Robotics Award was presented to the Mobile Robotics team by Olaf Lies, Minister for Economic Affairs, Employment and Transportation in Lower Saxony. “The winning teams demonstrate how robots can be integrated into daily life to everyone’s advantage,” declared Lies at the presentation ceremony. “Robots do not simply replace human workers with machines. They become assistants, protecting against damage to health from monotonous or hazardous tasks.” The mobile concept study from KUKA, consisting of a KR QUANTEC robot, a KUKA omniMove and an autonomous navigation software package, exhibits impressive flexibility and high practical relevance. KUKA managed to take first place in the applied robotic solutions competition ahead of the Austrian company EEP Maschinenbau GmbH and the University of Zurich.

About the robotics award

This is the now third time that the Robotics Award has been presented by the organizers of HANNOVER MESSE in association with the Industrieanzeiger trade journal and the Robotation Academy. The award is presented to companies and institutions from Germany and abroad for the robotic solutions with the greatest practical relevance. The projects are assessed on the basis of five criteria: degree of technological innovation; benefits for industry, environment and society; cost-effectiveness; design and presentation; and reality test in industrial application.
