KUKA implements more than 100 robots in Russia

Augsburg, June 18, 2012. KUKA AG has won an order for more than 100 robots of its KR QUANTEC generation from an automotive customer

June 18, 2012

The order value is in the single-digit million euro range. The robots will be shipped in the current quarter.

This order is part of a major capacity expansion program being undertaken by an international carmaker in the process of significantly expanding its manufacturing capacity in Russia. An additional 100,000 vehicles of various types are to be built annually on the assembly lines equipped with KUKA robots.

A major part of this order consists of almost thirty heavy payload robots, type KR 270 R 2700 Ultra. This model currently boasts a higher power density in the high payload range than all other robots available on the market. Yet the KR QUANTEC robot is 160 kg lighter than its predecessor and has a 25 percent smaller volume, with the same reach and payload.

"We are pleased KUKA is expanding its market position in Russia's growing automotive market," said Dr. Till Reuter, CEO of KUKA AG.
