German Cahncellor Angela Merkel forced to postpone KUKA visit due to weather conditions

Augsburg, 23 February 2015. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has had to cancel her planned visit to KUKA AG today at short notice. Her flight was not able to take off on account of poor weather conditions. KUKA regrets this development but is confident that it will be possible to reschedule the visit in close consultation with the Federal Chancellery. KUKA will communicate the new date for the visit in good time as soon as it has been arranged.

23 February 2015

The Chancellor had planned to speak with KUKA CEO Dr. Till Reuter about forward-looking robot and control technology for the factory of the future and to see the latest developments for herself on a tour of the company.

As Europe’s leading supplier of industrial robots and automated production solutions, KUKA is directly involved in the fourth industrial revolution – and intends to help shape it through its products. This development, known as Industry 4.0, encompasses the increasing digitization of production and the cooperative networking of workers and machines.

For the German government as well, the fusion of the world of IT with the world of industrial production is essential in order to ensure the economic leadership of Germany and Europe.
