KUKA showcases the world of robotics

During European Robotics Week, KUKA invites young and old to the company premises in Augsburg. Anyone interested can experience the world of robotics up close.

With a varied program, the robot specialist will provide information about why robots are needed at all, what they can do, existing trends in robotics and automation as well as what human-robot collaboration is all about. As part of European Robotics Week, the exciting events are designed to provide the public with more information about robots and to boost enthusiasm, particularly among children and young people, for this key topic of the future.

Some secondary school classes will also visit KUKA and explore the world of future technologies. KUKA employees will visit kindergartens and primary schools to talk to the little ones about the fascinating world of robotics and to get young people excited about technology.

KUKA is issuing an open invitation to anyone interested in the following events

Robotics presentation for children

KUKA employees will be offering children an unforgettable experience on two after-noons. Dive into the world of robotics and experience an interactive robot presentation. The highlight: children will be able to take over the controls of a small, mobile KUKA youBot robot. The hour-and-a-half event is intended for children from the ages of six to ten. 
The presentation will take place at KUKA at Zugspitzstrasse 140, 86165 Augsburg-Lechhausen starting at 3:00 p.m. on both Monday, 21 November and Wednesday, 23 November. Presentation on the topic of human-robot collaboration

On Thursday, 24 November 2016 at 6:30 p.m., KUKA invites interested adults to attend a presentation  in the Development and Technology Center at Zug-spitzstrasse 140, 86165 Augsburg-Lechhausen. Dr. Johannes Kurth, Head of Engineering for Advanced Technology Solutions, will provide an overview of trends in industrial ro-botics.

Draw your robot

Should the robot do your homework or rather tidy up your room? As part of the draw-ing competition, children can put their creative ideas for robot applications on paper. Details can be found starting on Monday, 21 November during the week of events on the KUKA website. Naturally, there are great prizes to be won.

About European Robotics Week

European Robotics Week has been held annually throughout Europe in the last week of November since 2011. The European research community euRobotics initiated the themed week to educate the public about robotics, focus on the significance, benefits and necessity of automation, and highlight the high-quality, innovative research and development work of European institutes, universities and the industrial sector.

Another important goal is to arouse the interest of young people in the sciences. The trend to-wards automation is continuing worldwide, with the result that ever more specialists will be required in the field of robotics in the future, and particularly in research and devel-opment positions.
